Stocking tips for SS15

London fashion week is over for another year, leaving a wake of summery style to warm us through the winter months. This is the first taste of the trends we are going to be seeing come next spring.

Good stocking for clothing retail is all about being prepared, so we've picked out the biggest looks from the runways so that your SS15 ordering is easy peasy.

1970s

The decade to take inspiration from. House of Holland was big on the flower power this fashion week. To follow their lead and get a good collection of hippy chic flavours, go for bright eye grabbing colours and floral prints.

Leather

JW Anderson, Mulberry and Christopher Kane all used leather throughout their shows. Material of the season? Remember that stocking this for the warmer months just requires some creativity when forming your wholesale clothing collection.

Less is more

The sheer phenomenon seems set to continue into 2015. The perfect look for long hot summer months. Take your cue from Marios Schwab's 'Barely there' collection. Combinations of nude under sheer or gauzy fabrics.

Denim jackets

Perfect for stock. Denim jackets are always going to be a popular item. To stay on trend, go for micro jackets with a tight fitting cut. These are going to be everywhere next summer. So say Henry Holland and Christopher Bailey.

Out to sea

Seen at Christopher Kane, JW Anderson and Peter Pilotto, the nautical theme was taking centre stage this year. When stocking don't just stop at stripes, go for the nautical detail, and especially rope detailing.

Bermuda shorts

We keep hearing about it, can we quite believe it? But yes, Bermuda shorts are going to be big next spring/summer. On the knee or just above. Part and parcel are the crazy prints, but when stocking it might be sensible to have a mix with more neutral colours as well.

Pleats and Ruffles

Pleats were everywhere at LFW, with so many designers using them this is sure to be a big hitting style. The feeling is a little 'back to school'ish. Think neat and tidy.

Long skirts

Flowing, slouchy, floor length. On and off the runways this look is all leaps and bounds. Definately a summer essential and for retail stock a fantastic all rounder. This is a style that looks good on lots of shapes and sizes.

The styles, the fashions, the energy of London Fashion Week 2014 have been exciting to say the least. The collections are vast and this is only a very quick look at them. Hopefully it's a good start to get you thinking about what your own SS15 collection is going to look like.
