Women’s fashion ideas and trends for summer

News is the UK is due a three month long heat wave, and summer fashion 2014 is bright, bold and fun filled. Lots to be excited about then. And lots to be thinking of. Beach to work to festival, we’ve been searching out the essential trends for this long, hot summer that’s been promised us. So what are you going to need for the perfect wardrobe?

Ok, first up colour.

This upcoming season is going to be light and girly on one hand with the pastels that have been dominating the catwalks. Subtle colours and also classic ginghams and prints. There’s also been lots of reworked of classic sport designs making an appearance with bold striped colours to match. Lot’s popping up we thought never to see again. Socks and sport sandals for one! This is sports-luxe, but let’s stay with the classics for a moment.

So, lacy pastels to start with, and also sheer is still here

The sun is here: Women’s fashion ideas and trends for summer

Think long sheer fabric skirts with short solid panels. We’ve seen this all over the catwalks and red carpets. Floaty, sexy and screaming sun! Many of the top designers have been baring all, but there are lots of safer options to wear sheer without showing that much too much.

…and then a big season essential is going to be the crop top. Team up with some high-waisted jeans or skirts for the ultimate beach look. Crop tops are springing up everywhere and in a variety of prints and colours. Not sure yet that the crop is for you? Start with more flattering block colours. And remember high-waist and a top ending just underneath your bust is the look you’re aiming for.

What else? Bermuda shorts!

Yip, they’re back, go for vibrant, patterned prints for the perfect summery look, or opt for more of a classy cut and then you’re set for the office as well.  This is a great summer style for all shapes and tastes. Match with some big strappy pool-slider sandals, which are also making the big come back.

Wondering what the trending summer dress will be this season?

It’s all about the shirtdress, go long or go short, this cut will see you through summer. Skirts? Stay with the A line in any length and you can’t go wrong. And pleats. Pleats! Stylish, classic, flattering pleats. Must have!

Enough to get you started? A long hot summer is all about late nights, long days and sand covered fashion. Keep that in mind when planning your spring/summer wardrobe, keep it light, bright and have fun!
